James reading, and discussion online

Date: Thursday, May 21, 2020
Time: 7:00 PM - 8:30 PM
Location: Online, Google Meet

Normally, we want to try to read the Bible most days.  Try for at least five to six days a week.

Each week, on Thursday, we will have an online discussion on Google Meet.  To participate in the discussion, have the first four sections read each week by Thursday.  You will need an invitation link to join the discussion.  You can get that link via the church weekly email.  If you don’t want to get that weekly email, you can request to get the invitation emailed to you separately.  Send your request to Info@StoneCreekBibleChurch.org.
If you are going to join the meeting on a computer, the link should open in your browser.  If your default browser is Safari, you should download another browser (like Google Chrome), because Google Meet doesn't seem to like Safari.  If you are going to join the meeting on your smart device, you need an app.  In the app store it is likely named “Hangouts Meet by Google”; the icon is a green speech bubble with a video camera in it.  Do not download the app named just “Hangouts”; the icon is a green speech bubble with a quotation mark in it.

Good etiquette for an online meeting

  • Do the best you can to minimize background noise and distractions for the sake of all the others on the conversation –TV, kids, eating, whatever.
  • Try not to interrupt the person speaking.  But, we will keep in mind that in-person visual cues are absent, which can make it difficult to interact in a smooth way.
  • When you are not speaking, it is a good idea to mute yourself.
  • If you have to go to the bathroom, don’t take the meeting with you. Leave the meeting and come back and join again.
